We all know how important it is to drink water everyday, but let’s be honest, water can get a little, we hate to say it... boring. Water is essential, though, for all our body’s processes including digestion and without enough of it, not only will we not feel great, but the effects will start to show on our skin too.
To make sure you stay hydrated, why not spice up your water a little and try one of these delicious detox water recipes? You will feel wonderful, your skin will glow and best of all...all these recipes make plain ol’ water taste pretty darn good!
Cucumber, Lemon and Mint
Lemon is our go to when it comes to sprucing up water. It adds a citrusy deliciousness and is wonderful for gently detoxing the liver. Oh, and it freshens the breath too! Cucumbers help with bloating and mint adds a fresh twist. Mint is also wonderful for soothing an upset tummy.
Fill a large pitcher with filtered water. Add 1 lemon sliced into wedges (yep, throw it all in), 1 chopped cucumber and a handful of chopped mint. Give it a shake and leave it for a few hours or overnight in the fridge so that the water can soak up all the yummy flavors!
Blueberry, Strawberry and Raspberry
If you prefer a sweeter, berry flavor, then this water is for you! This berry trio is jampacked with antioxidants, essential for warding off disease as well as keeping your skin young, plump and beautiful.
Add 1 cup of each berry to a large pitcher of filtered water. Always be sure to leave in the fridge for at least 2 hours for the water to soak up all the goodness! This water will take on a beautiful bluered colour too! Feel free to add some agave syrup or maple syrup to amp up the sweetness if you wish.
Orange and Cinnamon
This is a good one to try if you’d like to get into the holiday spirit a little earlier this year. Oranges give this water a vitamin C boost, helping to ward off colds this Winter and cinnamon is wonderful for regulating blood sugar.
Add a whole sliced orange and a few cinnamon sticks to a large pitcher of filtered water and leave in the fridge overnight or for at least a few hours.
Watermelon and Basil
Watermelon is a popular fruit thanks to its wonderful, sweet taste. It’s loaded with antioxidants and high amounts of vitamin A, which is essential for healthy vision as well as healthy skin. It’s also wonderful for bloating. Basil is a delicious sweet-tasting herb that pairs beautifully with watermelon and has been shown to help with stress. Keep this water close whenever you need a breather.
Add half a chopped watermelon (rind and all) and a handful of basil leaves to a large pitcher of filtered water and leave in the fridge to soak up the sweet, delicious flavors.
Peach and Ginger
It’s well known that ginger is fantastic for soothing the stomach, but did you know that peaches are excellent for your skin? They help with dryness, but also protect against wrinkles and other signs of aging.
Add 2 or 3 chopped peaches and 1 large knob of ginger, cut into large chunks, to a large pitcher of filtered water and leave to settle in the fridge before enjoying!
